Storm Babet recently hit Brechin in a big way.
The river South Esk burst its banks and the flood defences were overwhelmed.
Our business is on higher ground, so we were relatively unaffected but our hearts go out to those who have had to leave their homes without knowing when or if they can return. Some of our regular customers have been affected in this way.
Several small businesses have also had their premises flooded, with the financial impact running into thousands of pounds, and the emotional impact impossible to quantify.
But Brechiners are tough. The community pulled together to provide shelter for those who had to leave their homes, clothes for those who lost everything, food and a warm space for those struggling to comprehend the magnitude of the disaster. Life will go on here but will always be, somehow, different.
